Every gift keeps the doors open
It costs an average of £500,000 a year to keep St Paul’s Church open. Like every Anglican church, we receive no money from the government: the building, the ministry and the welcome are paid for entirely by the people who value them.
That welcome is unusually wide. St Paul’s has stood in Covent Garden since the 1630s and has been bound up with the theatre since the Restoration — the Actors’ Church in name and in practice. Alongside the daily round of worship, the church and its garden staged close to three hundred events last year: theatre, music, memorial services, and a great deal that would struggle to find a stage anywhere else in central London.
None of it is funded. Whatever you are able to give is gratefully received, and goes directly towards keeping this church open, cared for, and free to enter.

Heating, lighting, insurance and the constant repair of a building designed by Inigo Jones and finished in 1633.
A ministry to the theatre
The pastoral care, memorials and quiet welcome that have made this the Actors’ Church since the Restoration.
A stage for new work
